Spread & Financial betting
« on: May 30th, 2005, 7:16pm »

Do arbs exist on spread betting? Does anyone have any clues as to the calculations you need to perform to work out how to bet?
Are the financial spread markets so well patrolled by city experts that there is no profit to be made?

Can't really say about spread betting, but i know banks have entire departments looking at different exchanges for variations - i wouldn't think that the ordinary guy could do much when the professionals with years of experience, manpower and bankroll are looking in the same place.

I think it is possible to arb between spread betting firms. There was an article on it recently in Inside Edge mag.

I have been arbing sporting index v spreadex for a year now. Good thing about them is they dont palp. Once your bets on its cast in stone. There are some major price descrepancies that can be exploited. Patience is needed, but when the catch arrives the cash rolls in! Like many posts on this site state- the best cash cows or arb opportunities come from methods you have developed yourself. I saw an opportunity with the spread firms and developed a method to take advantage. I've had some success arbing traditional bookies, but have yet to discover a real gem on the traditional side.
If anyone wants any pointers about sports spread arbing and can maybe help me with other arbing, then ask.
cheers, ste3

Also, Extrabet do a good sign up offer. £20 matched fixed odds bet. They have taken over IG Sports sports spread business- you get 2 free supremacy bets or total goal bets after 5 trades. You have to look hard for arbs- but I tend to concentrate on the other spread firms as they give greater liability limits.

If you can't work it out yourself then it's really not suitable for you, since mistakes come with unknown liabilities.
